Steve Barber

Special Adviser

Steve is a highly respected leader in the critical communications industry, including serving as a Board member of The Critical Communication Association (TCCA) from 2021 to 2025. He was Chief Executive Officer of Sepura from 2017 to 2025, and now applies his extensive experience to support Sepura’s continuing development as a Special Adviser.

A founding employee of Sepura in 2002, Steve initially managed the company’s portfolio of TETRA products, later expanding his role as VP of Strategy, encompassing management of TETRA interoperability and standardisation across the whole group.

Steve has more than 30 years’ experience in the analogue and digital PMR industry and over 13 years in digital fixed-line communications. Prior to joining Sepura, Steve held a variety of senior technical, operational and sales positions at Simoco, ACIS, GEC-Marconi and British Telecom.
