South African Police Service choose Sepura

Sepura has won a contract to provide mobile radios to the South African Police Service (SAPS) throughout the Gauteng province. The contract, secured by Altara - one of Sepura's partners in South Africa - in conjunction with Verstay, will see Sepura deliver an estimated two thousand SRG3900 radios to the Police Service over the next two years.

Fighting off fierce competition, the SRG3900 finally triumphed in the extensive evaluation process, not least due to its 10 Watts of RF Power - the greatest operational range of any TETRA radio - which will help SAPS to achieve maximum coverage across the province.

"We're delighted to be able to maximise the potential of our existing infrastructure by fitting Sepura SRG3900s in our vehicles," said Brigadier Gordon Bosman of SAPS.

"We made our choice after thorough testing, and are looking forward to enjoying the benefits over the coming years."

"The Gauteng province, which includes the cities of Johannesburg and Tshwane (formerly Pretoria), covers an extensive area; it has a population of over 12.3 million, and a particularly undulating topology in which the SRG3900 will excel.
